Inaugurated in 2006, the Sorolla Palace was the seventh hotel of its category to open in Valencia.
It has 271 rooms and, as the name itself suggests, the building's decor is inspired by Sorolla's paintings. The hotel also includes halls, luxury suites, office spaces, a recreational area, a gymnasium, sauna, gardened terrace with solarium and a pool which is heated and covered in winter and open air in summer .
More than 28,000m2 of white marble from Macael was used to construct the building, a feature for which it recieved the Macael Award. This type of marble is sourced in the Almerian town of the same name and its characteristic uniform white colour gives buildings a brigther and more luminous appearence. The prize has been awarded annually since 1977 by the association of Macael marble producers to landmark buildings constructed with this material and to prestigious architects and constructors.
