Multifunctional Centre in Yecla (Murcia)

Actions are planned as a unique indissoluble project, with an idea of integration which may be formalized in two different natures, the Multifunctional Centre and the Development of the Natural Environment. This way both projects keep a reflective connection between Architecture and landscape enriching and multiplying the value of full intervention.

From a functional point of view, this building is designed as a flexible container regarding its activity, since it is set out with a fixed bay including walkways and service cores as well as a mobile bay with partitions adjustable to the specific requirements of the facility.

Orientation determines the two bays of the floor plan. The solar protection is complemented by a lattice with vertical slats of treated pine logs fixed to the autoclave avoiding the impact of the lowest Sun rays at sunrise and sunset.

Being arranged in two floors, the building is understood in a compact way as a linear block, limiting those paraments in touch with the outside and therefore limiting the energy loss.

The building emits less than 50% of CO2 compared to a conventional one, 15% of materials is recycled, it generates close to 10% of the energy it consumes and it reuses 95% of water. We have designed a comprehensive watering system for the Park harvesting rainwater to be reused and the reuse of grey water in a big tank.

Thus, the Multifunctional Centre is conceived as a state-of-the-art reference representing the interests of a city which bets on a sustainable urban development.
